33 Sugar Beet Harvester

Pull 2 or 3 rows, with 33 set to match your row spacing. Three puller units can be spaced for 20, 22, or 24-inch rows. Two pull-er units will harvest rows spaced 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, or 36-inch rows.

Escalating rear grate won't plug with mud . . . lets you harvest when other lifter-loaders can't. It gives added cleaning, too, with an extra tumbling action that shakes dirt from beets. Greens, mud, and dirt ride up and out.

NEW BRAWN, NEW CLEANING ABILITY

The rugged, big capacity McCormick International 33

can harvest beets at a ton-a-minute clip in good going

...

load beets out clean, with minimum tare.

It

will do

a

good job in cloddy, muddy, or

even rocky

soils;

and

will handle row spacing from

20

to 36 inches.

New, extra heavy, rim-type puller wheels

get

beets out, whether ground is

soft or

hard

.

You break

fewer tails. Spring-loaded

scrapers

keep hubs free of

mud. Rigid scrapers

are available

for cloddy, rocky

soils. Special stub-spokes

save extra small

beets. And

only

IH harvesters have

adjustable-angle

wheels

. . .

only

IH pulls clean under

a

wide variety of soil

con-ditions.

No lifter-loader matches the 33 for cleaning.

Ex-clusive three-point kicker wheels

and escalating

rear

grate are your assurance of harvesting clean beets

.

There's bonus cleaning area

in the

extra

wide elevator

too.

Give the 33 a try-out and see for yourself.

It

takes

less than 10 minutes to hitch this

semi-mounted

beet

harvester behind a four or five-plow Farmall tractor.

In

the field, you'll find steering

easy and

precise

.

Rigid

hitch makes the harvester handle like part

of

your

tractor. Puller wheels follow tractor guide wheels

. . .

make it easy to stay on the row

.

And for the really

tough conditions where rough ground

,

or washouts

cause trouble, an optional steerable hitch lets you

move

the harvester up to four inches, right or left

independ-ent of the tractor

.

You can get the 33 with 10 or 11 ½-foot elevator delivery height, to match the height of truck box you use. Rear frame member telescopes . . . does not stick out past the right wheel. This means more room for trucks as they pull alongside . . . and narrower width for transport.

Exclusive, adjustable-angle puller wheels . . . pull clean, whether soils are light and fluffy or hard and dry. Rims bring beets up with fewer broken tails. And there's bonus strength in new, heavier hubs.

Scalp as you harvest with the 33 . . . or scalp up to six rows at a time in a separate operation. Finder shoe guides spring steel knife for accurate scalpings. See back page for details on tool-bar mounted scalper units.

ESCALATING REAR GRATE

GETS RID OF MUD~

DIRT~ AND GREENS

Load out clean beets,

even in toughest conditions

In heavy yields, where going is good, th

e

33

can

pull,

clean, and

load up

to 60 tons per hour

. . .

with

mini-mum tare! In tough going, it outharv

Rim-type puller wheels

firmly . . .

shed

loose dirt and small clods. Rubber

bladed

paddle

wheels skim off dirt as they toss

beets into

the

kicker

trough.

Exclusive 3-point kicker wheels

give

th

e

beets a

tumble-turn-toss ride to the

elevator.

Dirt

is

jolted

loose . . . drops out of the bottom

of

the

cleaning

trough.

Escalating rear grate . . .

another International

first . . . adds nearly 10 square feet of active cleaning

area.

It resists plugging, like no other grate you've

seen. Beets are rolled and cleaned, as mud and greens

go over the back, and out.

In cloddy soil,

action of kicker wheels and elevator

fingers, working through the bottom elevator grate,

give good cleaning under most conditions. Actual

clean-ing area

-

including elevators, totals 4

7

sq. ft. For

mastering

unusual

clod or rock conditions, see below

(right).

No matter

what your needs, you'll find the

33

tops.

New escalating rear grate (1) angles to the rear . . .

carries mud and greens right on out. Hood is hinged in the

center, to let mud escape. Side grate (2) can be set against cam

on first kicker shaft, for vigorous agitation that shakes mud from rods.

BIG ELEVATOR GIVES FINAL CLEANING

The

extra-wide elevator

handles

beets fast . . . gives

them a

final cleaning

before

they

go into the

truck.

Steel

fingers

crush

clods

as they

lift

beets from

the

grate at

the bottom.

Conveyor apron rods, spaced at

2

½

inches, allow plenty

of room for dirt and clods

to

escape.

This open-link

apron

rides

on

rubber rollers

for longest life

. .

. lightest draft. The

elevator

drive

is slip-clutch protected.

Cover slats are spring

loaded,

to let largest beets through. You can

get

the No. 33

with 10 or 11

½-foot

delivery height, to match height

of the truck or trailer that you use.

Exclusive 3-pont kicker wheels . . . 76 of them on nine shafts . . . provide over 10 square feet of aggressive cleaning area for vigorous cleaning action that's unequaled.

Rugged kicker drive is built in two sections. Second and third,

and shafts (the most heavily loaded) are driven by gear train from

the first shaft. The fourth shaft is driven from the first by roller

chain, and a second gear train drives the remaining shafts. Drives are shielded from dirt. (Right hand shield is removed for this

picture.)

Special attachments meet severe conditions

Exclusive Clod-Crusher attachment

helps keep clods out of the load. Notice that fingers are spring-loaded, to prevent dam-age by rocks. Recommended where clod conditions are severe. Sketch (right) shows how it works.

Spring-loaded fingers holds clods back while kicker wheels crumble them. Beets pass right on through to the elevator, while broken clods drop out through the bottom of the cleaning trough and through the elevator grate.

Cleaning roll scrapers (special) prevent build-up of mud between kickers. Recom-mended for muddy conditions. For rocky soils, rubber spacers (special) between kicker wheels permit flexing . . . rocks drop out harmlessly.

RUGGED DRIVES ...

MASSIVE FRAMES

MASTER TOUGHEST JOBS

From

extra

heavy pto shaft, with over-sized CT-joints,

to the rugged, two-part drive for the kicker bed, the

33

is built to handle the power needed for

ton-a-minute harvesting. And the

browny

welded box

frame is cross braced for

rigidity

that keeps drives

in

alignment

.

.

. means longest life for bearing

,

gears, chains,

and

sprockets

.

Main drive slip clutch protects

against

damage to

tractor or harvester that might be caused by picking

up rocks or foreign objects. Separate safety clutches

guard

elevator and

rear grate drives. Take

a

look

.

compare. See why the 33 takes the stress and

strain

of

5

mph harvesting, with

strength

to

spare.

Clean, rugged construction shows in this rear view. Simple, yet extra strong wheel supports permit raising or lowering wheels to match your needs. Rear frame member telescopes, so you can change wheel spacing to suit row width . . . yet have no axle sticking out to endanger trucks or increase transport width.

Extra strength in pto shaft-gear boxes-gear trains mean non-stop harvesting with the 33. Husky frame holds parts in precise alignment.

New, extra-rugged main gear box has the rigidity to keep gears and bearings in precise alignment. Big bearings and wide, preci-sion-cut gears assure long life. Shielded main drive safety clutch protects against shock and overloads.

STEERABLE HITCH

HELPS YOU TO STAY

RIGHT ON THE ROW

Have your 33 beet harvester equipped with optional

steerable hitch to guide puller wheels with tractor's

hydraulic system. Cylinder shifts harvester as much

as four inches right or left, at a touch of the hydraulic

control lever. You'll save more beets where short

head-lands, rough ground

,

or washouts make precise steering

difficult.
